Mason Motorsports Finishes Second,
Back-to-Back!
-
June 4, 2008 (Plymouth, WI) – Mason Motorsports came to Lucas Oil
Speedway ready to compete against some of the best Super Buggy
racers from North America. The last two years, John Mason and his
family supported race team have come so close to the Super Buggy
Championship, only to come up a few points short of the top spot.
New for 2008 is the factory sponsorship of Mendeola Transaxles.
Along with long time partners Goodyear Tires, SPR, Hytech Exhaust,
and Energy Dynamics, Mason Motorsports came to Wheatland, Missouri
optimistic that all the pieces are in place to bring the WSORR PRO
Super Buggy Championship home to Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Saturday afternoon practice went well, with John turning some of the
quickest lap times in his division. After a thorough inspection of
the Jimco Super buggy, crew chief David Mason deemed the #912 ready
for competition. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t. Heavy rains and
thunderstorms throughout Missouri forced the cancellation of most of
Saturday evening’s race program. Sunday morning the weather cleared,
and WSORR officials scheduled Round 1 racing to begin mid- morning
with Round Two action be begin just after mid-day.
Round One
John Mason and his #912 Mendeola Transaxles Goodyear Tire Honda
powered PRO Super Buggy grabbed the lead at the drop of the green
flag. Unfortunately his lead was short lived as he went wide in to
back section of track, allowing a couple of competitors pass.
Quickly John gathered up the Jimco Super Buggy getting back to the
action. At the finish, John Mason landed on the podium in second
place.

Round Two
The start saw someone near the front of the grid check up just at
the green flag was dropped. This caused most of the field to bunch
up as everyone tried to avoid one another. Tim Lemons somehow got
out front before all the mayhem occurred. John Mason quickly moved
into second place, but the leader had put too much real estate
between himself and the Mendeola Super Buggy for John to make a
serious challenge. Once again, John Mason came across the finish
line in second place.
“The Mendeola Transaxles Goodyear Tire Super Buggy had two strong
finishes today,” commented John Mason. “Running twice today we
didn’t know what to expect. Thanks to my crew chief and dad, David
Mason, everything went off without a hitch. Thanks to Mendeola for
coming on board this year. Thanks to Jeff St. Peter at SPR for all
the flawless work he does for us. Thanks to Endyn and HyTech Exhaust
for the great engine work and thanks to my family, without them we
couldn’t go racing.”
After round two of the 2008 Lucas Oil WSORR PRO Super Buggy
Championship, John Mason is in second place, just two points out of
the lead.
The next race for Mason Motorsports is the Forest County Potawotomi
Brush Run, June 21-22, in Crandon, Wisconsin.
Mason Motorsports would like to thank all its sponsors, including:
